This years' design was inspired by embroidery. Photo by <u><a href="http://www.browngirldecorblog.com/" target="_blank">BGD</a></u>.<br />

The packing already made me really happy and now they have a nice spot on my wall <3<br />

Like this one I created for <u><a href="http://www.browngirldecorations.nl/" target="_blank">Brown Girl decorations</a></u> consisting of a logo, product-category icons, shop layout, business cards, prints, price tags, watermark for pictures and 'thanks for your order' cards.<br />

So here it is! I started doodling a fruits pattern.<br />
<br />
<img border="0" src="https://blogger.googleusercontent.com/img/b/R29vZ2xl/AVvXsEhCNMjfrnbGXFWf-P3j7YnG_m5NgBWjaqWZRCDyuCI5iC96qkKuJEALYDMpUBlDLXRQd0ESKksgX-ZfNLrui_8ljoafTXG7uj92mNNW5GGzlmos4syEp3G7EoBm9YT3LWyBxD22-Ke5ym9H/s1600/cute-fruit-pattern-1.png" /><br />
<br /><a name='more'></a>
Next I traced the fruit shapes in Illustrator.<br />
<br />
<img border="0" src="https://blogger.googleusercontent.com/img/b/R29vZ2xl/AVvXsEiEP51D8CdQcHGFb2MMZetAh_Lejl31t300KW2Dzun9SXdD8CORapmbIu4ROmdRG-VaEQ17LH2H9DJNSdzdB8Nt2Bf8INiF6VHrUXXPq9U7IP9Tjd1_S535DSZHmP2_qVPo1FhgTLxlb6WG/s1600/cute-fruit-pattern-2.png" /><br />
<br />
and turned it into a seamless pattern.<br />
<br />
<img border="0" src="https://blogger.googleusercontent.com/img/b/R29vZ2xl/AVvXsEhHJLSIpP8Niudsox9OPT28roqKMev2ot5wDLNKhEdWXQRVHDgOUFQ572-tvvJFDpVF_HQBnnSyeO3YYelfM5K3B_cAF0doFg4g3D2I5dCnpGR8ixUhrTjjJ8co0V3hgKpYeKfOEI38TOWp/s1600/cute-fruit-pattern-3.png" /><br />
<br />
I drew the fruit to scale (sort of), but that made the pattern unbalanced, so I scaled the larger fruit to a similar size as the rest.<br />
<br />
<img border="0" src="https://blogger.googleusercontent.com/img/b/R29vZ2xl/AVvXsEi5CuPoWkMbbLhdQxf36_xyPYiMxgz2H_RW69gOpokvBdMGSONnUkCSyWfVxbBD21SQcbmgTIERXQu3m2IOsChmBqC5IoM-f8fXoW0gFFvLXdW97oTlIZBOCSpdb7AQ2gYGjsIDxa3vrLr4/s1600/cute-fruit-pattern-4.png" /><br />
<br />
Next I gave the fruit colors. I was considering using a limited palet, but it was intended as a cute pattern, so colors were ok.<br />
<br />
<img border="0" src="https://blogger.googleusercontent.com/img/b/R29vZ2xl/AVvXsEj05rE_7JA8EhRxP9x9XY1jccJ-myd2pDDmRcP2fPhcFoW6DPFqIVntR6Jz9xFh-E-M_7Bq3OJZrGnFgnhQE_wT0UZ1fwu9XesI9Rvt0BwQDOnDO3atOmnh7-biy93UWSaFfB92pb0ZH4Ky/s1600/cute-fruit-pattern-5.png" /><br />
<br />
Then I used texture technique I had just learned from a <a href="http://atly.com/products/illustrator-220-texture-pre-sale" target="_blank"><u>Atly course</u></a>, giving it a more handmade feeling. I'm really getting a Eric Carle vibe here, I like it!<br />
<br />
<img border="0" src="https://blogger.googleusercontent.com/img/b/R29vZ2xl/AVvXsEjUYOpbsXktBIrMwXK79RFaQao41Ovs59uNg7AiFbLjFr40-TongV8XFRJM9I83zmiPa4QTJ2cROtVlW9flKA8iQvhJJEDw_IvTUXg7QM6LIYnrIrl42eGpRZLBnCbLrZiljxMdjpmpwxCg/s1600/cute-fruit-pattern-6.png" /><br />
<br />
I wanted to make it even <i>more</i> handmade, so I changed the smooth lines into more pencil-like lines.<br />
<br />
<img border="0" src="https://blogger.googleusercontent.com/img/b/R29vZ2xl/AVvXsEgf1aIcjWHIMWo7UuUJAYEodP20UvKDEf8PkGZQZckM_Fc0B-2jc23YUgDR-d4bwZIc2SBkrte5t2m4xjVHCnGDxRvS3t05RlE9iI948gEpQn04C7AnBhY0ivjU6_flkGk7QicYHjKLQg5T/s1600/cute-fruit-pattern-7.png" /><br />
<br />
Now for the best part.. or so I thought.<br />
<br />
<img border="0" src="https://blogger.googleusercontent.com/img/b/R29vZ2xl/AVvXsEh27EQfTXIpIFtew8ozPJuc3bauZNhvnq8e_XA6N0FiaOysvIDNNDm-r4-ZZYBHYh6_aTtyZ2nzdNIuylOW5BY9CgP-r_zTrZ1CRTX9-XZIuuU9WVeJa03N592_tANmCMz6AWh-qUJE1Xzl/s1600/cute-fruit-pattern-8.png" /><br />
<br />
<img border="0" src="https://blogger.googleusercontent.com/img/b/R29vZ2xl/AVvXsEiOdUcT_caNsNtxgSOx6IrjgGQl3k05GXR6QBmJbAIOLGSuMQLJRQ6rPRpW-QsEkH3AgwRjDMElvuGGloZlt7mOsnLSW35wNErLmNfPTkPVXTiBpOxRZ0-GSnjL_-EGW1ZCthCNF1i8kZXe/s1600/cute-fruit-pattern-9.png" /><br />
<br />
I added the faces and I didn't like it! <b>*crêpe*</b> They were too heavy and made the pattern too busy. I tried white lines too, but that didn't work either. Now what?<br />
<br />
I decided to do something else for a couple of days. When I was done with that, I took another look. I experimented with what would solve the 'problem', thinking it could always be a normal just fruit pattern, until I accidentally added a dark background and it made sense. And that's what I ended up with. Maybe a bit darker than first intended, but I like it!<br />
<br />
<img border="0" src="https://blogger.googleusercontent.com/img/b/R29vZ2xl/AVvXsEiteF4wtWA4gD2c-2JCR_Ij8QOPhhucpqza3YsyOhf8eiLwxEkBOnIAmU97BpE_TzdTkKuySqiXhzSMZmrli-C932vJswfnpgS8OcngLp6mIgCepBgZoPwGUA9JGGZA1bym-ml5vL6xzqh6/s1600/cute-fruit-pattern-10.png" /><br />
<br />
The texture and effects are a bit hard to see zoomed out, so here's a close up.<br />
<br />
<img border="0" src="https://blogger.googleusercontent.com/img/b/R29vZ2xl/AVvXsEgGS2vUxvSFYloeDilK5nik95SB9RrqZ6nd2W-c8hINgGJfW6mavSVUyiAksq1XnwEC-Y88ho_TUW9WWDK2YEVo5ES1jFvddVfc7fLYrDyIMsRwD7zxIbRF5U0J4JF40zWTird8aB9m5Y29/s1600/cute-fruit-pattern-11.png" /><br />

Before I started I checked out the most populair (and well known) panda's of the moment, to make sure I didn't accidentally copied them. These were from A Little Lovely Company (balloon), Studio Inktvis and Eef Lillemor (last 2).<br />
<Br />
<img border="0" src="https://blogger.googleusercontent.com/img/b/R29vZ2xl/AVvXsEij3qDRteZSVMuRYnwRl2pqzcrOWNVYjoWfZocaiwwSqjk4y6YnG32LIvsHV2-qtXEWrkqmUh8EerbHtwQEcaCfEqoGx8uWUQplZMJtOpwccvwMJESF02D2mgMt3qnYAObTy3antWSWFqWk/s1600/pandas.jpg" /><Br />
<br /><a name='more'></a><Br />
Next I started drawing. I was a bit sick, so I drew on paper in stead of the computer (which I normally do). The first sketches didn't really make happy..<Br />
<Br />
<img border="0" src="https://blogger.googleusercontent.com/img/b/R29vZ2xl/AVvXsEisumc4S7RdO5tj9A-QpDm7lEJBhIjs7y3MDYt7Pula9t4YAzsYS7_0Kox1wYSxD1CydjNgmMTZymFArBJqLJ2mKRghzKe_grwC6Ao5eyTHYOq-0no0LYQTUAwgGR2G7BCbieB5ABjq1beJ/s1600/panda-1.JPG" /><Br />
<Br />
... until I doodled this one. <Br />
<Br />
<img border="0" src="https://blogger.googleusercontent.com/img/b/R29vZ2xl/AVvXsEhM-zmSMflEJG-kFpWEsGiTvH0BgPOnTTnPVlZP-GbPJ01fWRWqXbKRrWbN60Preaf8KlCgTyWI8I62wHMZwur_T-ZQdKw2p-RdWb2xPwn-W-ntlXn1LqVyG_BsJqCoXj2NVAJp_p_Xil8v/s1600/panda-2.JPG" /><Br />
<Br />
It made me think of Tara panda, didn't it look to much like that? Had to google for a bit, because I didn't remember the name, but I found one and luckily it didn't lookalike (too much).<Br /><Br />
<Br />
<img border="0" src="https://blogger.googleusercontent.com/img/b/R29vZ2xl/AVvXsEhH-nWIaid3oNqwibi8cV7opylVuJBMlm-wKKak7YLdddikSIiiPZ7u_aAtLnvi8BSNaaJsqsNCpSxT0yaiyQoajGZwGP5dF_llT9o8cNw6Wlb6rl0rsUza7mpSrdFr_eZmOKT3tm61SliX/s1600/tare-panda.jpg" /><Br />
<Br />
The next day I digitized him. I turned the panda more symmetrical, which is pretty much always more pleasing to the eyes.<br />
<img border="0" src="https://blogger.googleusercontent.com/img/b/R29vZ2xl/AVvXsEiuR4LH2J8t0hkpWGlmQ30l7xgKaESiRfyCBv2jzh3Fep83uWPqGNs5gPvjXq3wG3rnpGc3jJt0mwBibEzmkw-XZ4MckuKz3GPjDTkxAaNHMjhYK765gAT59VU6ZcmPoLYaFoDLPg_j6LV4/s1600/02.jpg" /><br />
<br />
But it wasn't right yet, so I continued sketching.. It started with a simple design, but I couldn't help myself and added various expressions. I also wanted to draw him from the back (cute tail!), but just standing there would be boring, so I made him dance.<Br />
<Br />
<img border="0" src="https://blogger.googleusercontent.com/img/b/R29vZ2xl/AVvXsEj5dczLfSAKj5I7GgOlgrZfqEfy-jzi5-FP1u73OQIfwu_0HUaNX_XfMIS0FOlK7MJDFc4F_iRmX_8lMOQ0zGj1mwvqKJrflVEaZMneAPKmV5oQgQbTUNnmY0ZfsFoJ0i95-T7So6dwHdY6/s1600/panda.jpg" /><Br /><Br />
I showed the character design to Sandra and she liked it, so I created this mini garland.<Br />
<Br />
<img border="0" src="https://blogger.googleusercontent.com/img/b/R29vZ2xl/AVvXsEhy6BWhC_Tx0v5W7W9tlDhf0mV1N9rqjIv-KD1-hUvPKvPnkGx4OqjTmnUYvOeFwe4ua098DacANv0dF2v8E_u2QuyE0_tU2AaCHIt7d2Hs15brgzZAG1NWbAlEdDHb6TFZPumtx1mmlNgl/s1600/pandakaart.jpg" /><Br />
<Br />
What's so fun about the mini garlands, besides the cuteness, it that you can cut them in various shapes. On the back you can find dotted lines (and circles you can cut so you can lace them on a string) to make the garlands even móre fun.<br />
<Br />
<img border="0" src="https://blogger.googleusercontent.com/img/b/R29vZ2xl/AVvXsEhZ_NCtTcKifVHwJx_te-aALTjBpvnYU3KTPlHbl6RLovOvDo55PJs9O4ws3PJvPRYEUjbFh8No7CN0Kt6XS345dMk8oEuB3XECVrS7L1Ktu_ORY6Dwv7LzSg_182y4LEdrqtAyaMkXySn3/s1600/panda.jpg" /><Br />
<Br />
But it didn't stop there! After sharing, everyone reacted really enthusiastic and especially to the dancing panda. So Sandra asked me to create another garland with just this panda. I though it would be fun to create a mini print/XL postcard (A5), so I started with that. This way I could see better if the variations was enough (because they're on the same surface).<Br />
<Br />
<img border="0" src="https://blogger.googleusercontent.com/img/b/R29vZ2xl/AVvXsEgkQ8yWu0JIeAhcNDNovKOXyVG0aw8s2LsAQ1WY0A3dfQrPKsVN73L668LR1fkQvE7oTMOzAi8RqzcfcQMFGe29SWFZCN2AY95918uNSrICsm_ItmHnU9EefHvCLW_J5Ai3oIKnHwrIsmTk/s1600/panda.jpg" /><br />
<br />
<img border="0" src="https://blogger.googleusercontent.com/img/b/R29vZ2xl/AVvXsEjWEt5wktUnpLTJJVRBaHZn6WriEIYaR34hgUsSUgxStcon4a7v6lhu-qG7uM8FNyDIuI-XYoyu4jNHby89bYX0NK4VC7hlNvVsUkWiF4Ngnn4T5s0_KtkCO-0udpYi9FCUSBnW747-6sv6/s1600/panda-slinger.jpg" /><br />
<br />
And I was so happy with the design I continued with a sticker sheet (grey lines are not part of the design, this is where the stickers will be cut), notepad and birthday calendar.<br />
<img border="0" src="https://blogger.googleusercontent.com/img/b/R29vZ2xl/AVvXsEgWG7z4opaqO8znOYgkCOceoy1C28Hg2c0OnD-AnFaSXStRSGLCMKhO9NBHLEIMVorfZ87rBo8Q-r4KJ4tRqd2LvXMPWYsRSa5lFutSFhFhA6HHj34QTIvEVTFIYpYq3ZRR838bjJEqDlEk/s1600/panda.jpg" /><br />

<br />

Because what were you suppose to do with the Q, X and Y? Most avoided it, but I didn't want to do that. Yesterday I 'got over myself' and just started with it. I had designed the letters a little while back and really liked them. It was a search to find the right style and then lots of brainstorming which illustrations would go nicely with the letters, but it was all worth it; I'm loving the end result. <b>Available at <u><a href="http://www.printabledesign.nl/en/retro-alphabet-print" target="_blank">Printable design</a></u></b>.<br />

<br />
At the moment it's still a quite 'small' website, but I'm working hard on letting it grow, for example I'll be at the <u><a href="http://www.feelgoodshopevent.nl/" target="_blank">Feelgood Shop event</a></u> on 11 & 12 March (Dutch fair), I'm planning to send out pers releases to bloggers and magazine and I'm active on various social media (<a href="https://www.facebook.com/raamtekening/" target="_blank"><u>Facebook</u></a> (Dutch), <a href="https://www.instagram.com/windowdrawing/" target="_blank"><u>Instagram</u></a> and <a href="https://nl.pinterest.com/windowdrawing/" target="_blank"><u>Pinterest</u></a>).<br />
<br />
Do you like the idea and think you could be a nice addition, send me an email to raamtekening@gmail.com and I'll tell you more about it!<br />

It works really simple: you choose the design you like, buy it and immediately download the printables. Next you print them, if applicable cut and tape them together en then put them up on the outside of the window with a few pieces of tape. You trace the drawing on the inside of the window and when you're done, you remove the papers and that's it! (click <a href="http://windowdrawing.com/howdoesitwork" target="_blank"><u>here</u></a> for extended/illustrated instructions) There are various fun designs for all kinds of occasions available. For example these cute cats and plants, drawn by Sandra.<br />
<br />
<img border="0" src="https://blogger.googleusercontent.com/img/b/R29vZ2xl/AVvXsEgGYMDcxaPRvlj3htgkKvhT-ecfmC7EzqCrAx5udPLC9IhwUsZ75YcVXyybPVKWDVDCJuPPx_7cuWEaAxv7CKuP6xwawXVjnklAfbJelJeD63S08y5kuWKPNRA9JymQe2_4Q22ytNLctx_G/s1600/raamtekening.jpg"><br /><br /><a name='more'></a>
And what's fun for (small) businesses, it also possible to have <a href="http://windowdrawing.com/custom-windowdrawing" target="_blank"><u>custom window drawings</u></a> made. Like, of your logo! We created this window drawing for <a href="http://www.sienenco.nl" target="_blank"><u>Sien en Co</u></a>, specifically for this window. She traced it herself, didn't it turn out cute?!<br />

A illustration advent is a daily illustration counting down to Christmas. I was still crushing hard on the new kitty I designed, so it was all about her. <b>Merry <strike>Christmas</strike> Catmas!</b><br />

<img border="0" src="https://blogger.googleusercontent.com/img/b/R29vZ2xl/AVvXsEggpCur6gbRUMiL6vmNYkPi3_ueHIzOmPXUIZiI_mvYeTfZamA-PSEtbFjptQghfouBSqGI2u4LFBcFFkRjw4ozqMSCRunlwo2RM8wPifi7TWtAhJ72CmDEO0jCOqkrHt9s3tuf7CLEiJnG/s1600/sienenco-oud.jpg"><br /><a name='more'></a>
She wanted to consult live, so we chatted on Facebook. This also works great for me, because I can get feedback on my designs quickly. We started with the logo and character design. Sien had to look like her daughter, so I drew a happy girl with red hair. Co needed to be more boyish, so I give him a bowtie and a more blue color. It was also necessary that you could see it was a creative shop from just the icon, so I used her own idea of the brush, pencil, etcetera from the old design.<br />
<br />
When we found this, the rest just came 'naturally'. We also came up with a new slogan because the old 'the webshop for craft sets for kids' didn't really cover what she offered in the shop. So we changed it to 'for kids who love crafting'. She has fun plans with he character designs, but for now it was already a great collaboration with everything was carried out down to the details.<br /><br />

We're sending the designs to the printers soon and the (dutch) <u><a href="http://www.celebratethelittlesteps.nl/" target="_blank">Celebrate the little steps website</a></u> is online. The cards will be available mid November (sorry, at the moment only dutch), check out the website where. <br />
<br />
It's one of my dream-jobs to design for kids who are in the hospital and this is really close to that, so for me this was definitely a dream-collaboration! And I also got along great with Hanneke :)<br /><br /><a name='more'></a>
MILESTONE CARDS<br />
If your baby was born prematurely, you will reach various milestones on your way home; when your baby weighs one or two kilogram, can go off the monitor, moved out from the incubator and into a real cradle and eventually of course when he can go home. With these milestone cards, specifically for premature babies, you can celebrate them all! Decorate your baby's place in the hospital, stick them in your scrapbook or send them to your loved ones to let them know that your little one a step further.<br />

Tirza has a style that I truly envy and she of course I asked her to participate with the Pretty in Pink & Crazy Cat Lady planner. When her cards were printed, she send me a princes one, so sweet! So surely I had to share it here. <br /><br />

They're also available for wholesale. </i>No, I'm not getting paid to post this, I just really like her work and want to spread the word :)<br /><br />ankepankehttp://www.blogger.com/profile/08331643327698698164noreply@blogger.com0tag:blogger.com,1999:blog-4299572412864029688.post-13880690972485883082015-10-11T14:22:00.000+02:002016-05-05T16:13:42.348+02:00BijderwetsFor Helen from <u><a href="http://www.bijderwets.nl/" target="_blank">Bijderwets</a></u> I designed a new identity. She needed a new logo, business cards, 'thanks for your order' cards and a social media set. She was looking for a clean design that still showed the shop sold handmade products. She didn't want bright colors and favored green.<br />
<br />
I immediately had the idea to do something with a skein and a crochet needle and she liked it! I started with 5 sketches and after playing a bit with her 2 favorites we soon had found her new logo. I really love it when I'm able to translate someone's ideas so quickly. So here it is:<br />

Yesterday I received the cutest little package in my mailbox. I'm a big believer of adding personal touches to your orders, so I loved this!<br />
<img border="0" src="https://blogger.googleusercontent.com/img/b/R29vZ2xl/AVvXsEicNjVZLwxuadLamqO4V9Jd2fszwfwaZ_YWmLkeRheljHCyuU0r66BK140vD00uti6D_9HP1lwGhVHFVBwlINfBwcxRHjTTcinboKcdJR_xvwCyGOJdE-4TEt6ttE622tQYWVRGGMFtv1c/s1600/ponypeople-1.JPG"><br /><a name='more'></a>
Inside were the amazing kitty patch (love the quality!!) and I also ordered earrings.<br />
<img border="0" src="https://blogger.googleusercontent.com/img/b/R29vZ2xl/AVvXsEhesoohMLKrN5xll3wXtyWv8bCNhSGHt7S4jkFNT6dMuz-URqnBKrDb6RApaVBoDHxRJSQkG7RibSUlAHPdg1WYQXyOhImE7Tb2WvfecA8WNITj-Lh_NmnaXRuYB_tsi3dQY-Qo1NPhgco/s1600/ponypeople-2.JPG"><br />
And this is where the patch it going. As I expected, a perfect match with my new <u><a href="http://ankepankes.blogspot.nl/2015/10/hippie-totebag.html" target="_blank">hippie bag</a></u>!<br />
